Friendly fZ80 is a new, modern desktop computer that runs CP/M 2.2 and MP/M II 2.1, Digital Research's multi-tasking operating system for the 8-bit 8080 and Z80 microprocessor. fZ80 is built around a modern processor, uses a modern (VGA) display, modern keyboard, USB power and SD card storage.
As of 16 August 2026 these are updated hardware and continuous software
development. Cabinet aesthetics and finish are improved. The manual has nearly
doubled in size. MP/M operation is discussed including how to effectively set
it up for daily use. Here are some construction photos.

For sale on eBay, can ship internationally:
The red and orange machines are otherwise identical. There are a few
previous Friendly fZ80 users on the Vintage Computer CP/M MP/M Forum; for general CP/M and MP/M
questions that's an excellent source (I can be found there). For
product-specific issues email me at tom at this URL, minus the www. This email is
also in the manual.
fZ80 CP/M has a 61K program area; MP/M has 208K memory in four banks,
capacious by standards of the day. The emulated Z80 has an equivalent clock
speed of approximately 70 MHz, and passes all known Z80 compatibility tests.
Housed in a painted aluminum cabinet approximately 8" x 4" x 2", the
rear contains serial and parallel port connectors with "IBM PC" pinouts,
plus USB-C connectors for keyboard and power.
Use the links in the bar at the top of the screen for provided CP/M and MP/M
software, hardware details, manuals and other documentation and features.
Here are a few simple videos of the fZ80 in use, to
get a sense of what it's like to use; boot CP/M, run MP/M, multiple "busy"
screen programs, an example compile, etc.
There is a fZ80 Operator's
Manual and documentation for all of the software and hardware involved. A
printed manual (5" x 8", 208 pages) is included with every machine.
CP/M and MP/M software is found at the Software link in the bar at the top
of the screen. Machine firmware updates and process are available here.
I will post the eBay link and item number here in the first week of August
2026.
